Hattie B’s Hot Chicken- Nashville

Hattie b's Hot Chicken Nashville
112 19th Ave S (Midtown) OR 5209 Charlotte Pike (West Nash)
11:00  AM until 10:00 PM
There is evidence suggests that spicy fried chicken has been served in Nashville for generations and today it continues to be a never ending debate in Nashville as to which hot chicken restaurant is “the best of the best.” The current dish may have been introduced as early as the 1930’s. It is generally accepted that the originator of hot chicken is Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack, which is a huge reason why many locals still claim it as being best. Recently living in Nashville, I must say my personal choice has to be Hattie B’s Hot Chicken.

Pinewood Social- Nashville

Pinewood Social- Nashville 7

33 Peabody St, Nashville, TN 37210

| Hours 7:00am- 1:00am |

My first time walking into Pinewood Social I thought I had found the greatest hidden gem of all time tucked right off the beaten path of downtown Nashville. Little did I realize that all the Nashville locals knew of the spot! I should have known; this place was way to epic to be a secret!

Owned by brothers Benjamin and Max Goldberg, Pinewood Social was created to offer Nashville a go-to social gathering place. Pinewood Social accommodates their guest’s daily routines by brewing up one of the best cups of coffees to start the day, a comfortable place to meet for a casual lunch with a co-worker, and Pinewood Social even converts to be a happy hour spot to sip on a delicious cocktail after a long work week.

Pinewood Social has a little something for everyone. Not necessarily catered to specifically locals or tourists, this spot is merely a place to meet friends and play! Yes, literally play! Pinewood Social has six reclaimed wood lanes from an old Bowl O’ Rama in Indiana. (It might just be the cutest thing you’ve ever seen.) When the weather is nice, the outdoor patio also offers bocce ball and features two dipping pools for a much needed cool down in the Nashville heat. Read more

Goose Island Brewery- Where Food & Beer Meet

Goose

When creating a food and beer pairing piece, my goal before even writing was to solidify a concrete understanding of how food and beer related to one another. Not only by taste, but in transformation to the final product. The idea of fire, water, and air came to mind. These three components have played such a vital role in humanity since the beginning and continue to factor the way we innovate and grow both with beer and food.

I have chosen to highlight Goose Island Brewery out of Chicago, IL in my pairing. Since day one, this company has been driven by quality and continues to be a leader of innovation in the beer world. Each chosen beer style below is paired with a recipe, which mutually enhances flavors and compliments aromas and textures.

Once you begin you will find that beer does pair well with your local burger and hot wings, but you will also discover that beer is far more congenial than wine for many foods.

These beers are “brewed for food.”- Goose Island Brewery Read more

Double Chocolate Soufflé

Bourbon County Chocolate Souffle

I chose to wrap up my food and beer pairing experiment with Goose Island’s Bourbon County, not only because its personally one of my favorite beers, but because I find it fascinating that Goose Island actually pioneered the now so highly sought after bourbon-aged beer. Read more

Summit Brewery- Minnesota

Summit Brewing Company
910 Montreal Circle
St. Paul, MN 55102
Summit Brewery has a special place in my heart and most likely the heart of most Minnesotans. Named after the famous Summit Avenue in Saint Paul, MN, Summit Brewery continues to stay rich in its hometown roots. If you’re one to visit a brewery every place you travel, I’d mark off Summit Brewery as a must for Minnesota!

In 1986, Summit founder Mark Stutrud was determined to rediscover the traditional brewing methods behind the great handcrafted beers that were once enjoyed throughout the Midwest. Today, after years of experimentation and surpassing all doubts, Summit Brewing Company has become Minnesota’s most beloved beer. Read more

solemn Oath Brewery

Driven by their passion of Belgian-Inspired and Barrel Aged beers, Solemn Oath Brewery produces some of the most sought after beers in the Chicago suburbs. You won’t believe how small the Taproom is first walking in, but by the end of your flight, you have made great friends with everyone around! Solemn Oath is unique in the sense of its décor with corky stools made out of used skateboards and barrels used as tables, but it mainly stands out for its feeling of community

Solemn Oath Brewery’s tap list is every changing and guaranteed to never be the same every time you visit. The Brewery’s goal is to move swiftly through dozens and dozens of beers across a range of styles for the first few years to really be able master a wide range of styles. They want to give their drinkers more than just the now standard IPA.
