In 1986, Summit founder Mark Stutrud was determined to rediscover the traditional brewing methods behind the great handcrafted beers that were once enjoyed throughout the Midwest. Today, after years of experimentation and surpassing all doubts, Summit Brewing Company has become Minnesota’s most beloved beer.
My favorite Summit beer types are Summit EPA (flagship extra pale ale with caramel, biscuity malts balanced with an earthy hop bite and juicy citrus) and Summit Maibock (a traditional German beer with toasted sweetness with a little spice in the finish).
Summit has also been committed to sharing its success with their drinkers and the community through sponsoring local events, offering their community room free of charge for local groups, and donating to worthy causes. The brewery is devoted to maintaining a green and sustainable environment. There is no such thing as delicious beer without a healthy planet! The brewery focuses on reducing their water usage, decreasing their energy consumption, and lessening their waste.
The Summit Beer Hall & Tap Room are also a great spot to try seasonal and specialty beers with friends! They are open Thursdays 4-8pm, Fridays 4-10pm, and Saturdays 12-10pm. My favorite part is that they have food trucks on-site and a lot of fun special events like movie screenings, Trivia Night and fundraisers.
